Shortcrust Pastry Recipe for Wee Buns

This is our go to shortcrust pastry for our wee bun recipes. It holds it's shape well and is still delicate, buttery and melts in your mouth. This one always goes down a treat in. I've converted my Nanny to only use butter but it works great either way. She was taught that way because butter was so much more expensive in her day and still is. You can make a batch of this and freeze it for future use as well. Be sure to wrap tightly in cling film and place in an airtight ziplock bag, then just defrost fully before use.

You can do this by hand but it's a lot handier in the food processor. First add your plain flour and salt to a food processor or bowl. Give this a blitz or mix together with a fork.
